In the list of players we see The usual suspects From the TOKYO2020 Qualification Track: Celina Peck, Sherrill Senen, Robin Tabling and Mark Calgo. Migrant badminton De Visch Eijbergen lives an hour by train from the tournament site, and fortunately she’s there too.

Carolina Marin (Spain, WR3) and PV Sindhu (India, WR7) took first and second places, respectively, in the women’s singles.
For Soraya de Fisch Egbergen, who lives in Bern, the 2021 Swiss Open is a kind of match at home and the first since the SaarLorLux Open in October last year. The dog lover is currently number 69 in the world and will play for the first time against Aliye Demirbag of Turkey (WR59). This five-year-old has not played any championships since February 2020, so it looks like the rating won’t be a factor here in advance.
If De Visch Eijbergen wins, she will cross the badminton racket Adidas Kalkul A5 with professional nationality changer Beiwen Zhang (This week: USA, WR16) or Linda Zetchiri from Bulgaria (WR64).
Swap partner Sherrill Senen
Sherrill Senen from Limburg swaps her new partner Deborah Gill again this week for her TOKYO2020 girlfriend Selena Beck. As number 26 in the world, they play against fellow countrymen Emky van der R and Alyssa Tertusentono. With a win, the quarter-finals are tempting, because in the second round there will likely be no resistance from the Swiss or Swedish corner.
For Robin Tabeling and Piek (8th place, WR17), the first round did trigger some emotions. Just two weeks ago, Rodeo Olimov and Alena Davletova (Russia, WR20) were extremely powerful in two matches during the European Mixed Team Championship in Vantaa, Finland. In all fairness, it is necessary to say that during that match nothing was at stake anymore, the Netherlands did lose.
With a win, blonde Alexandra Pugh and Mathias Christiansen (Denmark, WR18) might have enough to pass Tabling and Beck. However, the Dutch will do everything they can to prevent this.
