Mumbai: Reliance Jio presented New Year gifts to its clients. Starting tomorrow, January 1, Geo customers will be able to make free local voice calls. A few months ago, Reliance Jio started charging for calls to other networks. Several plans have also been launched.
Reliance Jio said it will stop charging interconnection usage (ICU) charges for domestic voice calls effective January 1 as per the Indian Communications Authority order. Therefore, Reliance Jio customers will not be charged if they contact clients using other companies’ services.
The company decided in September 2019 to charge Reliance Jio customers to connect to another network. For this, the company indicated TRAI’s ICU fee. Now Troy has decided to stop charging the ICU fee. Therefore, Reliance Jio announced that local Offnet calls will be free. Clients will be able to benefit from this tomorrow.
