Krafton Inc, the South Korean company that owns PUBG Corp. A deal with Microsoft will allow PUBG to host the game on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform.
The deal allows Krafton to host products directly managed by the company and its subsidiaries, including PUBG on computers and consoles, as well as PUBG Mobile, which was banned in India two months ago.
PUBG Corp still owns the rights to the popular battle royale mobile game.
“With privacy and data security a top priority for Krafton, the company will work with Microsoft to ensure that personal data is protected through Azure,” the company said in a press release.
“Collaboration will ensure that privacy rights are respected and related software will be fully compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.”

Krafton will also work with the US tech giant to introduce a verification process to ensure players’ personally identifiable information is stored in compliance with all appropriate requirements in all regions.
While reports indicate that PUBG Mobile is planning to return to India with such cloud deals, others suggest that data security and Chinese ownership were only part of the reason why the app was banned.
A TechCrunch report indicated that PUBG Corp has privately informed some of the streamers that it expects the game to be back in the country by the end of the year. Some banners expect an official announcement of an early comeback like Diwali.
Besides, Krafton has been working on renaming the game to get around the government ban. The game developer previously said that it translated its Indian servers before the ban.
While the game was banned from Google Play and the App Store, it was operating in India until last month, before PUBG ended all its services and user access in India.
