Trump news live: Latest election updates, polls, and debate build-up

Brian Rodriguez, September 29, 2020
US President Donald Trump speaks on Monday

Donald Trump continues to track Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in nationwide and state polls as the couple prepares for a showdown in tonight’s first televised debate of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Trump, who was nine and ten points behind his opponent in two Pennsylvania state polls published last night, has gone on defense over reports that he plans to make his daughter Ivanka Trump his running mate in the 2016 election.

After heartbreaking reports on Sunday that the president avoided paying income tax for 10 years before taking office, Democrats – including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – accused the president of posing a national security risk because of his foreign loans.

The president angrily rejects the claim that he wants Ivanka as a deputy in the election

Yesterday, Bloomberg News reported that a new book written by Rick Gates, a former Trump aide, reveals that the president planned to have his beloved daughter Ivanka as his deputy in 2016 before Mike Pence.

Trump lags in the Pennsylvania polls before the first debate

Donald Trump continues to track Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in nationwide and state polls as the couple prepares for a showdown in tonight’s first televised debate of the campaign.

The president was nine points behind his opponent in two Pennsylvania state polls published last night, one from right Now/ Siena College and the other from Washington Post/ ABC.

The former saw Biden rise 49 percent to 40 percent, while the latter got him a 54 percent to 44 percent lead over Trump.

The President had hoped to get a boost in response to his drive to install Conservative Circuit Court judge Amy Connie Barrett on the Supreme Court to succeed the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but such an outcrop has yet to materialize.
