The Australian Fire Brigade has been trying to control a large bushfire in the state of Victoria for a week. About 30,000 Australians have been advised to leave their homes.

According to Australian authorities, the risk of forest fires spreading in parts of the state of Victoria is very high. The authorities asked residents to leave before noon (local time).

Temperatures on Wednesday are expected to exceed 40 degrees, accompanied by stormy winds. There is also a chance of so-called “dry thunderstorms”. There are lightning strikes, but all the precipitation evaporates before it reaches the ground.

“Today is going to be a very difficult day for firefighters,” Victoria's fire chief told the news station. ABC. “Our advice is to leave on time.”

Forest fires have been burning since Thursday

The Australian Fire Brigade fears that thunder and winds will cause new fires. There is also a risk of large wildfires spreading. This fire is burning near the city of Ballarat, 95 kilometers west of Melbourne.

Forest fires have been burning since Thursday. Hundreds of firefighters are helping to fight the fire. The fire has already destroyed six homes and 20,000 hectares of nature.

In 2020, southeastern Australia saw widespread bushfires. 33 people were killed across the country.
