Augmented reality plays a role in the AP-0 in the form of a virtual race coach giving the driver instructions around the race tracks via a 3D screen in order to improve lap times. It is still not known exactly how this virtual assistant will work.
The electric vehicle also has lidar on the roof. This laser radar can use laser pulses to map the live environment in 3D and thus recognize objects and subjects. According to Apex, it leads to Level 3 autonomous driving, which actually means semi-autonomous driving. Handles can be removed from the handlebars. According to the manufacturer, the entire system, including automatic emergency braking and other assistance systems, is advanced enough on paper for Level 4, where driving is left almost entirely to the car.
The Apex has a 90 kWh battery, giving the 1,200 kg car a driving range of about 515 km. The sports car has support for 350 kW fast charging, which can charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in less than fifteen minutes. Furthermore, the car has an engine power of 650 hp and the 0-100 km/h acceleration should be completed in 2.3 seconds.
