Welcome to the present – Apple is planning a completely logical step

If you are an iPhone user, what is the simple improvement you would like to see on your smartphone? What can Apple offer that is simple, secure, and tested? We know what you’re thinking – it’s probably about to happen.

Apple boldly uses USB-C connectors for charging. This is exactly the slot found on MacBooks. But here the logic ends.

Are you using an Apple wireless mouse? You will not be able to remove the charger from the computer and bring it to the mouse. And not because the mouse charging socket is at the bottom for aesthetic reasons – the Apple mouse uses a Lightning connector. Like iPhone and iPad. When all other smart manufacturers are amicably encouraged by rules and laws to move to the same standard, Apple stands stubbornly alone.

One standard, of course, makes sense. It not only suits the user who does not need many wires and chargers, but also reduces e-waste emissions. That’s why, according to Reuters, the European Commission will adopt the USB-C standard next month. If Apple wants to sell iPhones in Europe, it will have to adapt. That would please many Apple fans.

True, the iPhone 13 will most likely be unveiled in September, which may still be able to avoid standardization. And the iPhone 14 may appear without charging slots at all. It is not clear whether the European Commission will specify that all smart devices must be charged via USB-C or simply prohibit other physical connections. If Apple doesn’t have to install USB-C ports, they won’t.

The iPhone 14 (and possibly 13) won’t have any slots. Phones will only be charged wirelessly. This means that the design will be cleaner, phones will be better protected from moisture and dust, and Apple will make more money. Those who want to charge their phones easily will have to buy Apple MagSafe chargers, which are attached to the back of the phone with the help of magnets. Of course, it will also be possible to use third-party chargers that do not stick to phones, but this will make it very difficult to use a rechargeable device.

It goes without saying that magnetic chargers are not standardized. Apple no longer puts chargers in their packaging, motivating this environmental decision. The environment will not be protected when Apple buys a new device without sockets and Apple users will have to get rid of the old charger because it will not be plugged in. The environment will not be protected even when a person who uses several devices from different manufacturers will have to buy several chargers. But perhaps the USB-C charging standard will be strict and mandatory, although it will severely hurt Apple’s plans to move to a new and unique charging standard.
