US protests: ‘Stop counting’ for ‘Count all votes’

US protests: ‘Stop counting’ for ‘Count all votes’

Protests have erupted in several cities in the United States, awaiting the final results of the presidential election. After President Donald Trump declared victory prematurely, and his attorneys tried to stop the count for alleged fraud, many places demanded that all votes be counted. Others chanted, “Stop counting!”

Thousands of supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden marched on Fifth Street in New York Wednesday night to demand the “all votes” be counted. The city is known as a democratic stronghold. Journalists immediately indicated that the business went quietly.

Donald Trump declared his victory before all votes counted. Sarah Boyajian, one of the demonstration organizers, said our message is that such a thing is unacceptable.

In Chicago, protesters marched in front of Trump Tower – outside the president’s real estate empire – and chanted, “Count every vote!”

In Philadelphia, Dallas, Grand Rapids (Michigan), Baltimore, Portland and Detroit, demonstrations were also held and activists took to the streets. In addition, there have been protests about “black lives matter” or climate protests in some places, sometimes mixed with demands to protect democracy. In Portland, several people were arrested at such a protest after shop windows were smashed.

“Stop counting!”

In Detroit, Michigan, supporters of Trump gathered. They are asking for a halt to the counting of the votes in that combat state.

The event took place in Detroit in a tense atmosphere. Hundreds of Trump supporters gathered at the counting office chanting, “Stop counting.” Previously, incumbent Donald Trump also called for an end to vote counting in Michigan – and other states – as he saw his progress diminish there. In his opinion, this is the result of fraud.

Pictures on social media show that police officers must prevent protesters from entering the compound as votes are being counted. The US media has previously attributed the victory in Michigan to Biden, who is taking an important step toward the presidency. After the result became known, the atmosphere calmed down.

In Phoenix, Arizona, he also met Trump supporters, at least one of whom was carrying a heavy rifle, at a later time, including to Count Agency. There they seemed to find it important to have the accurate counting and chanted “Shame on Fox”. Trump-leaning Fox News was the first to define Arizona as winning by Biden, with a significant portion of the vote still to be counted.
