UEM Edgenta Berhad announces the appointment of Mr. Kua Choo Kai as an Independent and Non-Executive Director. Age 63. Date changed 8 November 2023.
Qualifications: MBA from the University of Bath, Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, Professional Qualification in Accounting from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants Member, Professional Qualification in Accounting from the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants Member, Professional Qualification in Accounting from the Practicing Accountants Accredited, Australia as Fellow. Mr. Kua Choo Kai began his career at Ernst & Whinney, the predecessor company of Ernst & Young PLT, after graduating and spending 38 years with the company. Prior to his retirement in June 2020, he was a partner in the Assurance practice in Kuala Lumpur and was a director of the professional practice in East Malaysia.
He was also Chief Administrative Officer of the Malaysian office, responsible for Facilities Management and Support Services. Mr. Cua has experience in internal and external audits, information systems assurance, enterprise risk management framework, corporate governance framework, and financial and management consulting. He has experience in automation, technology, communications, real estate development, construction, gaming, consumer products, and healthcare.
He also participated in international expatriate assignments in the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Previously, he headed EY Advisory Services from 1997 to 2005, where he played a significant role in the start-up of the EY Risk & Assurance Business Services business. He was the partner responsible for several implementation tasks of the corporate governance and risk management framework.
In 2005, he returned to the main Assurance firm and served as partner in charge of several major Malaysian conglomerates and multinational companies.
