Trump responded by appearing to be portraying the high number of coronavirus infections in the United States in a positive light.
“I think the vaccine was our target. That was # 1, because that’s how it ends up,” Trump said. Plus, you have immunity. I’ve developed immunity over a period of time and I’ve heard we’re approaching 15 percent, and I’m hearing that and that’s great. This is a very powerful vaccine in itself. “

Herd immunity is the point at which a disease does not spread in a population because a sufficient number of people have become immune to it through vaccination or infection.
The idea of reaching herd immunity has been promoted before Scott Atlas

The Washington Post indicates that it is unclear where Trump got the 15 percent, especially since the United States has exceeded 15 million cases of coronavirus, less than 5 percent of the population.
It has not yet been proven that people develop immunity to the coronavirus after infection, and re-infections have been observed, often with more severe symptoms the second time around.
