If you want to travel by train abroad, you need to take into account delays and cancellations. For example, no trains will run to and from Austria on November 28. Night trains will be canceled from Sunday evening. Travelers on trains to Belgium and the United Kingdom were also affected by the strikes.

    Austria

On Sunday, Austrian railways and unions tried to head off the strike. There will be no trains all day Monday. About 50 night trains will be canceled on Sunday, including the night train Amsterdam – Vienna and Amsterdam – Innsbruck (and vice versa). Trains may also be canceled on Tuesday.

    Belgium

In Belgium, too, a portion of the Belgian railways’ staff announced that it would cease operations. The strike will begin at 10 pm on Monday, November 28th and will run until Thursday, December 1st. “In most International train connections (namely Thalys, Eurostar, TGV INOUI and IC Brussels-Amsterdam) we expect it to be normal serviceLet NMBS know. Trains can be canceled at ICE Brussels – Frankfurt, and this also applies to short traffic across the border between Maastricht – Liège and Roosendaal – Antwerp.

Almost a quarter of the trains within Belgium are expected to operate. 2 in 5 intercity trains will be running on Tuesday, and 1 in 4 local trains. There will be almost no rush hour trains (P trains). There are no trains at all on part of the railway network. Then it belonged to Namur, the Belgian province of Luxembourg and Walloon Brabant.

    United kingdom

The UK also continues to suffer the necessary blows. For example, there was a strike on Saturday, November 26th. However, the Eurostar to London was able to operate on the normal schedule. However, the schedule for all other trains was seriously disrupted. New strikes are also planned in the UK for December 13, 14, 16 and 17. Just like January 3, 4, 6 and 7, 2023.

    Germany

There are no strikes in Germany, but they are an inconvenience for train commuters. For example, the Amsterdam-Berlin train will not run further from Hanover until December 16, and you will have to switch to ICE. ICE takes 90 minutes longer than usual.

Between Amsterdam, Cologne and Frankfurt, there are also disruptions on international trains. Due to train problems, many trains only run between Holland and Dusseldorf. The schedule has been adjusted to November 28, but Treinreisziger.nl expects that there is also an opportunity to adjust the schedule after that.
