Apple TV+ movie “CODA” is now available in cinemas, in the US and UK, and on the streaming service itself. For the first option, people who go to the cinema get a different experience than usual. The movie has something unique to offer.

CODA is the first movie to feature standard subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. Usually, moviegoers have to wear special glasses to be able to read these subtitles, but this method doesn’t always work. This way everyone can watch the movie.

CODA is the much discussed Apple TV+ movie that won an award at the Sundance Film Festival. It tells the story of a little girl named Ruby whose parents are deaf. As the only family member with hearing, she takes the family dragging her on. Just her wishes to become a singer throws a wrench into the works and a good relationship is put to the test.

A story, according to Reuters news agency, can be followed in a special way in cinemas. The film is seen as a breakthrough for the hearing-impaired audience. It is the first film to be provided with standard subtitles, so that visitors do not rely on special glasses.

    Accessible to everyone

“It’s historic and big for all of us,” actor Daniel Durant told Reuters. He also plays in the movie CODA on Apple TV + and plays Leo. “This is a day we’ve been looking forward to for years.”

CODA comes to Apple TV +: Everything you need to know about the movie

CODA writer Sian Heder wanted to make sure the movie would be accessible to practically everyone. “Sometimes I think the experience of cinema for the deaf and hard of hearing is not taken into account,” she told Reuters. She hopes Apple TV+’s CODA movie can change that and inspire other studios.
