A new scientific study shows that most Americans have previously been exposed to a variety of Covid-19 The Epidemic Coronavirus, which may cause a specific antibody to be stimulated in the event of a COVID-19 infection.

Published in the academic journal Nature CommunicationsThe peer-reviewed study examined how the body’s immune system responds to COVID-19 after previous exposure to at least one of the other four coronaviruses common in the United States that cause the relatively benign disease known as the cold.
The study found that the antibody in question not only interacts with SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, but also SARS-CoV-1, which causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
This antibody is likely produced by a memory B cell that has previously been exposed to the common cold, according to Rice Andrabie, lead author of the study, who is working as a researcher in the Immunology and Microbiology division of the Scripps Research Institute, according to the website. Medical News.

These cells are essential parts of the immune system and work by remembering diseases that have already entered the body.

The study results are important because not only do they help pave the way for better vaccines and treatments, but they can also help combat future types of coronavirus that may emerge.

Professor Dennis Burton, one of the study authors, said, according to News Medical, “It is possible that another deadly coronavirus will emerge in the future – and if that happens, we want to be better prepared.”

“Our identification of the reactive antibody against SARS-CoV-2 and the most common coronaviruses is a promising development towards a vaccine or large-scale treatment.”
