the story
Douglas Quaid desperately wants to go to Mars. Since this is not possible, he contacts a company that sells memories. This way he hopes to see something from Mars. However, with the memories in his head, something goes wrong. This reminds Douglas as a secret agent fighting an enemy from Mars.

After Verhoeven debuted in Hollywood with Robocop (1987), he immediately moved on to another science fiction movie. This time he had the lucrative star Arnold Schwarzenegger and the upcoming talent, which we’ll also see in Verhoeven’s next movie: Sharon Stone. The story is delightfully odd, but it also makes a mockery of American culture (again) and underscores Verhoeven’s reputation as a great American satirical writer. There are also some typical Verhoevian scenes, such as the woman with three breasts. A movie you must watch.
