Coronavirus cases continue to soar across Kent with nine out of thirteen districts having infection rates in excess of 100.

The latest infection rates are calculated based on the new cases in the seven days leading up to November 2 and are based on the number of infections per 100,000 residents.

Several areas of Kent currently have infection rates above 100, including Swale, Thanet, Medway, Dartford, Maidstone, Gravesham, Tonbridge, Malling, Sevenoaks, and Dover.

This means that for every 100,000 people in these areas, at least 100 tested positive for the virus in the past week.

According to the Coronavirus Dashboard, the average infection rate in England is currently 231.8 per 100,000 residents.

This was surpassed by Swale, which recorded a COVID-19 infection rate of 235.9, cementing it as the highest infection rate in the county, followed by a second with a rate of 205.7.

There are four regions currently under the 100 standard, namely Ashford, Canterbury, Tonbridge Wells, Folkestone and Heath.

Dover saw a significant increase with the infection rate more than double the previous week’s, rising from 62.6 to 127.8.

Tunbridge Wells and Canterbury both saw infection rates drop slightly, now at 54.7 and 96.1, respectively.
