“The Last of Us Part II” is the top game award nominee

“The Last Of Us Part II” leads the way in the game’s award nominations.

The Sony PlayStation 4 exclusive, released in June, received 10 nominations on Wednesday for the annual Academy Award for Video Games. This year’s concert will take place on December 10 and broadcast live from studios in Los Angeles, London and Tokyo.

Collect eight nominations: “Hades,” which is a PC game also released for the Nintendo Switch in September. Another PlayStation game, “The Ghost of Tsushima”, was released in July and garnered seven nominations.

These three games, along with “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” “Doom Eternal,” and “Final Fantasy VII Remake” were nominated for Game of the Year.

The host said, “Of course, this has been a challenging year for all of us, but despite many obstacles, the talented developers have delighted and amused us with amazing games that show more than ever why video games are the strongest form of entertainment.” Program creator Jeff Kelly, who founded the awards ceremony in 2014.

The broadcast, which airs on Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, and YouTube, usually includes guest stars including musicians and celebrities, and exclusive revelations and previews of upcoming games.

The Game Awards this year introduced a new category to honor innovation in the hardware and software that helped more players play the game. Candidates: “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” (Ubisoft Montreal / Ubisoft); Earth (Obsidian / Xbox Game Studios);

“HyperDot” (Clan games); “The Last of Us Part II” (Naughty Dog / SIE); And Watch Dogs Legion (Ubisoft Toronto / Ubisoft).
