According to an airport spokesperson, the power went out in Departure Hall 3 around 7 a.m., causing long lines at the check-in and baggage drop counter. Some flights were diverted to other departure halls, which also led to increased congestion there.
Several flights were delayed due to waiting passengers. It remains unclear how many passengers missed their flights, according to a Schiphol Airport spokesman. “We advise people to contact their airlines regarding this matter.”
After the disruption, the airport remained crowded for a few hours. At around 12:45 p.m., according to the spokesman, everything returned to normal. It is still unclear what caused the power outage. “Our primary goal was to get all travelers to their destination.”
