British intelligence services are helping the United States (US) investigate whether the coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, has leaked from a laboratory in Wuhan. That British newspaper reports The Telegraph.

A senior British security officer confirmed The Telegraph The British intelligence services are participating in the new US investigation in an attempt to uncover the “truth about the epidemic.”

It is also reported that the British intelligence services have started their own investigation into the origin of the Coronavirus.

The source said: “We contribute to the intelligence that we have about Wuhan and offer to the Americans to help confirm and analyze the intelligence information that they have that we can help them with.”

    Redoubling efforts

US President Joe Biden said last week that the United States would continue to investigate a possible leak of the Coronavirus from a laboratory in Wuhan.

Biden said in a press conference, “I have asked the intelligence agencies to redouble their efforts to collect and analyze information that could bring us closer to reaching a final conclusion, and to report to me within 90 days.”

    access denied

The UK, along with the US, has been very critical of the World Health Organization (WHO) investigation into the origin of the outbreak. The British claimed that China deliberately refused access to the data and samples when a team from the World Health Organization paid a four-week visit to Wuhan in January.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said more research is needed to rule out the possibility that the coronavirus may have originated in the laboratory.

In the past month, several reports surfaced of scientists claiming that the Coronavirus may have originated in a laboratory in Wuhan, China. Even a recently published study claims to have evidence for this.
