The organizing committee for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles proposes adding baseball/softball, cricket, soccer, lacrosse and squash to the Olympic program in 2028. The IOC, which is still finalizing the proposal, must decide. He confirmed this on Monday.
First, the proposal is discussed in the Olympic Program Committee and then sent to the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee. The proposal must then be approved at the 141st session of the International Olympic Committee in Mumbai, India from October 15-17.
Nine “new” sports wanted a spot on the Los Angeles 2028 program: cricket, karate, kickboxing, baseball/softball, lacrosse, wild dancing, squash, flag football and motor sports. The organizing committee has now proposed five of these. This means, for example, that break dancing, which is on the program in Paris next year, will not be an Olympic event in 2028.
