Some of the orange lionesses have returned to Dutch soil after elimination in the World Cup. Selection returns in groups. Danielle van de Donk stayed behind to cheer on her Australian partner Ellie Carpenter.

Stephanie van der Graagt, Sherida Spets, Lynneth Berenstein, Dominique Janssen and Meriel van Dongen, among others, were on the first flight back to Schiphol. The players had to move in Dubai. For Van der Graagt, the World Championships marked the end of her career. Family and friends waited for the players with banners. Some fans also came to Schiphol to greet the orange lionesses.

Players who play abroad will be the first to return this weekend. Football players who play in the Eredivisie are leaving, and finally there are two trips with only KNVB personnel.

Danielle van de Donk stayed behind in Australia to cheer on her friend Ellie Carpenter. Carpenter reached the semi-finals with Australia, defeating France after a thrilling penalty shootout. The English coach, Sarina Wegman, is the opponent. Her team beat Colombia 2-1.
