From August 19 to 21, 2022, the AFC Champions League Europe Open was held at Topsportcentrum Rotterdam. Cornhole is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. All you need is a wooden pallet and bags. The sport is the largest in the United States, and together with a Dutch partner they are organizing the first international event in Europe in our city.
“Three years ago we had to explain a lot about this game in Holland. We explained it as a kind of bowling or even a better version!”
Players of all skill levels and ages are invited to participate in this historic event. In total, players from 12 countries entered, all with the goal of winning €20,000. Since Cornhole is very popular in the US, it has also been broadcasted live in the US. Stacy Moore is a commission agent for the Cornhole League and is excited to grow the sport in Europe. Ashley Brown is one of the participants who traveled from the US “It’s great to bring this sport to Europe, we are part of history.”
These days when Rob and Job are talking about Cornhole, the bell always rings that people have seen somewhere. “I’ve noticed now that she’s more famous than she was three years ago.” What does Rob and Gubb ultimately want to achieve with the sport? “Making Cornhole an Olympic sport is our ultimate goal.”
