Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Treatments for peeps continue to be discontinued for several months – another consequence of the coronavirus epidemic.

Just Born Quality Confections said it will not produce the popular marshmallows for Halloween, Christmas or Valentine’s Day while the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania company prepares for the upcoming Easter, PennLive.com.

Dessert production has been suspended in the form of a spring holiday as the coronavirus spreads across the state. Just Born said limited production resumed in mid-May with protocols in place to protect employees.

“This situation forced us to make the difficult decision to abandon the production of seasonal candy for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day in order to focus on meeting the anticipated massive demand for Peeps for the upcoming Easter season, as well as the daily candy,” the company said.

For confectioners, Easter is one of the biggest and busiest times of the year as kids – and adults – use the holiday as an excuse to indulge in candy eggs and chocolate bunnies.

Just Born, which has been in business since 1923, said other seasonal sweets are expected to be back on store shelves by Halloween 2021.
