Liveable Zeewolde is the biggest winner in the municipal elections. The party doubles from five to ten seats, making it the largest by far. ChristenUnie increases from three to four seats and Actief Zeewolde gets one seat on city council.

At Zeewolde there is a discussion about a schema data center for Facebook’s parent company Meta. The center is controversial due to, among other things, doubts about its sustainability and social benefits. In December, a majority of city council members voted for the center. Eleven of the nineteen councilors voted in favor of amending the zoning plan for the intended site. The opponents are Christinoni and Levbar Zeewold. Then these parties together got 8 seats, but now 14.

Party leader Tom Sonnefeld of Leefbaar Zeewolde says the data center certainly affected the election results, but he also believes the “housing in the woods” theme was important. The party is against it.

In light of the result, Liveable Zeewolde could not hold a seat on the mayor’s college and an alderman. The party believes that going it alone is not the wisest option. Zonneveld wants to talk to all parties, but she thinks a lecture with ChristenUnie is the most obvious option.

Interview with party leader Tom Zonneveld:

Other parties have to give up their seats. They are VVD (-1), D66 (-1), and CDA (-1).

The turnout for Zeewold is 53.2 percent. In 2018, that percentage was still close to 58%.

    Result in Zeewolde:
