RDW will issue a new copy of the registration certificate in mid-June. The current contract with the current manufacturer expires. RDW is seizing the opportunity to implement a number of changes immediately. Due to the procurement rules, a new party will also take over production.
New reading equipment is needed
In particular, there are small visible and invisible adjustments in features that would make the authenticity of the document apparent. By changing the viewing angle of the new card, many features change. For example, the iconic RDW logo on the back will change color. In the front there is a small blue circle with an arrow that changes direction depending on the viewing angle. In addition, the new card contains many images that can only be seen under UV light.
In addition to the new features, there is also a new SIM card. The result is that reading equipment requires new software. This will be available on the RDW website later in the year. The rear will certainly be arranged differently for commercial vehicles and trailers. Instead of a separate certificate of conformity, the most relevant information can now be read on the back of the registration certificate.
Validity of the current registration certificate
The Certificate of Registration as we know it in the form of a credit card has been in circulation for 10 years. Just as previous paper registration certificates are still valid and are replaced upon transfer of ownership, this will be the case with the introduction of the new document.
