But soon Netflix will release a documentary about a different story about the Boy Scouts. The Scouts knew about it, but they tried to cover it up for years. In the trailer we hear that there was indeed sexual abuse among the Boy Scouts shortly after they were formed in 1908. At that time they put out their “Red Flag List”, a list of all incidents of sexual abuse. This list was the Boy Scouts of America’s top secret for many years.
There are those who say that the problem is not necessarily the Scout leadership, but the lack of control over who can become the leader. The Boy Scouts of America has always claimed to have a rigorous enforcement and leadership vetting process. It’s not true and never was.” When the case finally came to light, more than 82,000 victims came out. Some of those victims will also speak in the documentary.
