Cyclist Milan Vedder achieved his first victory in a professional cycling race on Sunday morning, Dutch time. In Gree’s Chinese tour in Guangxi he was the strongest in the queen stage. Thanks to his victory, he immediately rose to first place in the general classification.

In a race that saw many attacks, Vader had the decisive acceleration. The Jumbo-Visma Middelberger driver stood on the pedals at the end of the race, coming off the wheel of Belgian Tim Wellens, among others, and decided the race in his favor.

Vader crossed the line slightly ahead of number two Remy Rochas. The difference with the Frenchman was two seconds. Number three Hugh Carty of the United Kingdom crossed the line eight seconds after Vader. Wellens finished seventh.

With his victory in the fourth stage of the Chinese stage race, which includes two additional stages, Vader also took the lead in the classification. De Zeeuw rose from 22nd to first place. With two stages to go, he is six seconds ahead of Rochas and fourteen ahead of Carty.

There are still three Zealand nationals active on the Chinese tour, but they play only a modest role. Colijnsplaat’s Tim Van Dycke, Vedder’s Jumbo-Visme teammate, is 59th. His twin brother and teammate Mick Van Dycke has the No. 75 and Jerskeenaar Antoine Tolhauk, who drives a Lidl-Trek, is 82nd.
