Keyboard shortcut in Windows 10: How to immediately start a program with administrator rights

If you not only use your computer regularly, but also want to change things on it from time to time, you often have to run programs as an administrator. This is much easier in Windows 10 than many users know.

Regardless of whether when launching programs, during new installations or in the settings – the well-known drawback in Windows 10 is the so-called administrator rights. Even if you are logged in as administrator and have the appropriate password, you must run many programs explicitly as administrator in order to make changes to the system.

The standard route for most users is via the Windows 10 Start menu: where you can right-click on a program, select “More,” and select the “Run as administrator” option.

However, it is much faster with a simple keyboard shortcut that allows you to run programs as administrator within a few seconds. The trick is especially useful if you work a lot with the keyboard or often use applications as administrator.

Start the Windows program as administrator – use this key combination

Using a simple trick, you can easily run applications in administrator mode.

Instead of right-clicking and using the context menu, all you have to do is… control and Shift key pressure at the same time Then run the program normally with the Enter key or one click.

All computers running Windows 10 version 1803 or later can also use the key combination in the Run dialog box, available via Windows key + R to open. Here you can, for example, enter “cmd.exe” and then file Ctrl+Shift+ Enters activation. Then the command prompt will be run as administrator.

In Windows 10, you can find out if you have already started the desired application as an administrator with a simple observation: User Account Control asks for your password when you start the program or you have to agree yes or no to allow changes to the computer. You can read how to deactivate this notification here.
