Many users use Google account regularly. But be aware: under certain circumstances, accounts will be deleted at the end of the year.

Kassel – Send emails, broadcast YouTube videos or arrange meetings: With a Google account, users can access many functions. If you own an Android smartphone, you need an account anyway, for example to be able to download apps from the Play Store. There was a dangerous Trojan horse hiding there, which ransacked the account unnoticed.

However, it is more annoying when the Google account is deleted suddenly. This is exactly what could threaten some accounts this year. So you should check in time whether your own account has been affected.

Google account will be deleted: how to prevent losing your account

Inactive accounts are affected by account deletion. This means: no use of a Google account in two years. The internet giant reserves the right to “delete an inactive Google Account, along with its activity and data, if you have been inactive for at least two years,” according to the policy. It is similar to Whatsapp – all photos and chats can be deleted if inactive.

For an account to be considered active, users don’t have to do much. It is enough to watch a YouTube video about the account. But operations such as reading and sending emails, downloading apps, or using Google search also keep the account active.

Inactive accounts are not simply deleted – Google notifies users in advance by email

Anyone with multiple Google accounts should make sure they stay active. The company recommends that you use each account at least once every two years.

If you do not use your account during this period, it will be considered inactive and may be deleted along with all data. But don’t worry: Users don’t lose their accounts overnight. Affected accounts will be notified by Google prior to deletion. Users receive the message on one hand via their Google account, but also – if available – via the account recovery email address, according to the instructions.

Google Accounts Will Be Deleted From December 1st: Those who are quick can recover data

However, under this system, the corresponding accounts will not be deleted until December 1, 2023 at the earliest. If in doubt, if you are not sure if your own account is still active, you should log in to your Google account. If your account was recently deleted, it can usually be restored. To do this, users only need to be defined as account holders. However, if the deletion was a long time ago, it may already be too late for that.

If users have no objection to deleting the account, but want to keep the saved data, they can simply be downloaded. “You can always export and download your data from the Google products you use,” the company emphasizes in its guidelines. While the Internet offers many advantages, the risks should not be underestimated. Trojans continue to infect mobile users, so some applications should be deleted immediately. (cheese)
