You can now play with your corporate Win or Mac on your Chromebook!

It is very easy to set up. If you remember, you can turn on your study Mac with a Chromebook in your living room, or access your company’s Windows PC from your home Chromebook.

Chromebook Let’s take a look at the steps while watching a great video.

    Use CrossOver

Windows and Mac software is not yet compatible with Chrome OS. Google is getting ready, but if you want to play with it now, there’s a feecrossoverSimulation with (Japanese comment) is recommended. However, Chromebooks currently only run on Windows software.

    Use Chrome Remote Desktop

You can’t download Windows or Mac software to your Chromebook, but if you set up a separate Windows or Mac PC and connect it to the Internet, you can control it remotely from your Chromebook using the (free) Chrome Remote Desktop extension from Google. You can display the remote computer’s screen on a Chrome browser tab and act as if you were sitting in front of the computer.

To use it, the following preparations are required on the side of the destination computer in advance.

    • 1. Open the Chrome Remote Desktop page in your Chrome browser and log in to your Google account
    • 2. Select “Access your computer”
    • 3. Click on the “On” button in “Set Remote Access”
    • 4. Give your PC a name that’s easy to remember
    • 5. Enter the 6-digit PIN code required to unlock your computer over the Internet or WiFi and click “Start”.
    • 6. When the device is displayed as “Connected”, the setup is complete.
    • 7. You can change the name and PIN with the pen icon and delete it with the trash icon.

After you connect your computers (Windows and macOS, Chromebooks can be connected to Chrome), you can also select a trusted link (if you select it, you don’t need to enter the PIN a second time or later). If you want to change settings, check the Chrome Remote menu Desktop for the corresponding PC.“Confirm/Edit”Click to change.

After setup, please open the Chrome Remote Desktop page again on your actual Chromebook. Information about all synced devices is stored in your Google account, where you can also see which computers you have access to. When you press “Access PC”, a list of preconfigured Windows and macOS devices will be displayed. Choose the appropriate computer and enter the connection PIN.

Session options are then displayed in tabs, allowing you to make your Windows or Mac full screen or choose the display size in a browser tab. You can also transfer files between devices and switch displays on Windows and macOS (if you have more than one) on this tab (click the arrow on the right to open it at any time).

    There are also notes

Of course, the connected computer must be turned on when the power is turned on. Also, to ensure a stable internet connection, close other streaming apps on both the connection destination and connection source.

With the steps above, you can do just about anything with Photoshop or access the file system, Office, Windows, or macOS while you’re using your Chromebook. It might not be that smooth while watching Netflix or Spotify, but it’s usually enough for computer tasks, and you can even simulate inputs like PrtScr to be the same as you’re connecting to.

During remote access, the connected computer will be notified of this effect, so you don’t have to worry about the access taking place in places you don’t know. If you want to block remote access from your Chromebook, simply click Disconnect on the Options tab or simply close the browser window.
