President of the Palestinian Resistance Movement thanked Iran for providing military and financial support during the recent conflict with Israel in a televised address on Friday.

Hours after Israel and the Palestinian authorities agreed to the ceasefire, Ismail Haniyeh, a prominent Hamas leader, warned that it would continue to “defend” Jerusalem.

In a report published in the “Al-Quds” newspaper, he said, “Jerusalem remains the center of the conflict.” The Jerusalem Post newspaper said, referring to the continuing fighting in the area.

Biden believes that “my party still supports Israel.”

Haniyeh thanked “the Islamic Republic of Iran, which did not back down with money, weapons and technical support.”

“We will also use the help of other Arab countries,” he added.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo cited the comments on Friday as the reason the United States had not lifted Iranian sanctions when the Biden administration attempted another nuclear deal.

“America is on the verge of providing Iran with billions of dollars in sanctions to continue that,” Pompeo said on Twitter. This is a dangerous matter for the security of America and Israel. “

Haniyeh’s statements coincided with statements made by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday, in which he called on Islamic countries to take up arms in support of the Palestinians.

“Islamic countries should support the Palestinian people wholeheartedly and with military or financial support … or in rebuilding the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip,” Khamenei said in a statement. Reuters.

Khamenei’s comments came after reports of unrest in other Gulf states as violent exchanges between Israel and the Palestinian territories continued for 11 days.

Recently, Muslim countries allied themselves with Israel during the Trump era under the Abraham Accords, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan. And the Morocco felt new pressure to help stop the fighting.

Civil society organizations urged the government of Bahrain to dismiss its Israeli ambassador, and demonstrations took place in support of the rights of Palestinians in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that the Palestinians had achieved a “historic victory” over Israel.
