Talon Grekbour has earned a place in the second round of the Paris Bercy Masters. The best tennis player in the Netherlands defeated American Christopher Eubanks in three sets: 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4.
After one break for both players, the first set turned into a tiebreak and the Dutchman let himself go. The official on duty missed a net serve, much to the dismay of Greek Spor, who smashed his racket shortly after and was awarded a penalty point. “Do your job,” he shouted at the referee.
In the remainder of the period, the world number 23 recovered well. He quickly increased his lead to 3-0 in the second set and did not relinquish that lead. He also immediately won the first service game against the world number 32 in the deciding set, and after two hours and two minutes, Grekbauer used his first match point. In the last match, he succeeded in reducing the deficit to 0-30.
The Greek track will meet Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round, who eliminated 15th seed Ben Shelton from the United States in the opening round.
Botic van de Zandschulp is also involved in Bercy. He will face Frenchman Adrian Mannarino later on Monday.
