Golfer Dewey Webber has been awarded a playing card for the LPGA Tour and is therefore allowed to participate in next year’s higher-level tournaments. Anne van Dam made a mistake in the so-called Q-Series. Van Damme failed to finish in the top 45 and lost the playing card on the LPGA Tour.
Webber (25) finished 16th in his first qualifying tournament in Mobile (Alabama) last week. In the second championship at the same location, the Groningen native, who has lived in the US for years, climbed to 10th in the overall standings.
Van Damme finished 35th after the first four rounds. The second week was significantly less for the 26-year-old Arnhem, who competed at the Olympics in Japan last summer and finished 57th there. Van Damme fell in the standings on the second and third days due to disappointing results of 74 and 76 strokes. De Gelderse still finished at 71, one stroke under par, but that wasn’t enough to finish in the first 45. Van Damme was five strokes away from the playing card for the LPGA Tour.
Van Damme made his debut in 2019 on that US tour. At that time, Webber snatched a side of a playing card in the playoffs. She has since played on the Symetra Tour, the lowest tier of the LPGA Tour.
