Organizations WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF) has made a new feature public. The two companies are working to make avalanches in Switzerland more visible, allowing winter sports enthusiasts to plan their routes optimally. This new development makes avalanche warning much better.

    New avalanche warning feature

It's not just ski areas that keep you informed of the current avalanche danger. There are also all kinds of useful sites where you can view warnings. These websites provide information about how high the avalanche danger was and what the snow cover looked like at that time. You will also find a detailed message about the situation here. Such forecasts often apply for several days. White Risk is a warning site for all avalanches in Switzerland. A new post has been added here since December 14th. This provides freeriders, ski boarders, hikers and other winter sports enthusiasts with more information about the current situation.

What does the new map show?

The new map on White Risk allows you to see where an avalanche has been observed over the past day or three. This way you can see exactly the avalanche activity of the past period. The map can already be found on the website and will also be integrated into the app soon.

    Details about the avalanche

This way you can see exactly where the situation has been dangerous in recent days. You can also see exactly when the avalanche occurred, what type of avalanche it was and how violently the snow cover began sliding. There are also all kinds of details about the snow in that area and the location of the avalanche. Winter sports enthusiasts considering skiing/snowboarding in the same area are therefore optimally informed.
