Burgenland Energie has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with Borealis. The energy provider announced this in a press release. The contract has a duration of ten years and provides for the supply of electricity from renewable energy sources from a hybrid park in Nickelsdorf, owned by subsidiaries Burgenland Energie, Nick Alpha and Wind PV Operation.

Borealis is active in 120 countries around the world

Once deliveries begin, Borealis will use 55 percent of its electricity from renewable energy sources for its operations in Austria, it added. Borealis is a leading plastics manufacturer active in 120 countries around the world. “This brings us one step closer to our goal of covering our entire electricity needs from renewable sources by the end of 2030,” says Thomas Gangl, CEO of Borealis.

“By using wind and solar energy from Burgenland in our hybrid wind and solar farm complex, we are powering Borealis – an ideal synergy to meet the challenges we face,” says Stefan Sharma, Managing Director of Burgenland Energy.
