Minister Denuta Forswijk has seen a lot since she took up her position at the Ministry of Land Policy and Forest Management (GBB) in Suriname.

“With all those three years of experience, no one can fool you with anything. You read everything, you know the law, and you know exactly what a land inspection report looks like. If you have doubts about something, don't sign right away. You'll ask afterward.” Firstly, someone else will investigate on your behalf again. You can now easily check online through GLIS whether the editing has already taken place there or not. So I have a lot more baggage than before,” the minister said on Wednesday before the start of the Cabinet meeting. “I can no longer be tricked into signing anything.”

Vorswijk has been on leave for a few weeks and has now resumed work. According to her, her leave was related to other reasons and not at all to the problems surrounding Stalweide's release at Nickerie.

The Minister of the Gulf Region confirmed that she often relies on soil inspectors in her ministry and prefers to work with people whom she can trust implicitly.

“But you don’t have that in life,” she said. However, Vorswijk refused to respond to President Chan Santokhi's latest statement, with the Head of State noting that four months ago she had indicated that if things worsened again in her ministry's land policy, she would write a letter to the Head of State herself. She will submit her resignation.
