YouTuber and maker SunShine I took on the challenge of improving the traditional espresso pot using a 3D printer. His goal was to speed up the brewing process without compromising the quality of the coffee.

SunShine used a metal 3D printer from AlphaLaser to create its prototypes. This allowed him to turn his designs for an improved espresso pot into reality. However, during the printing process, which sometimes lasted several days, there were also leaks in some of the prototypes, which made it necessary to make further modifications.

According to SunShine, the main challenge was developing the perfect gas nozzle for the espresso pot. After many tests, he decided to use a nozzle with a diameter of 0.4 mm. The flame also had to be distributed even using a special gas system.

What was also important to the YouTuber was compatibility with standard espresso pots to get the right amount of coffee. Ultimately, he presented two 3D-printed prototypes, one of which shortened the brewing process to just 50 seconds.

Despite the challenges of 3D printing, SunShine is happy with the results. He also posted 3D models of his design called “Overengineered Moka Pots” on the Thingiverse portal And publications available. However, the requirement for 3D printing is a metal 3D printer.
