EZ seizes large batch of illegal coronavirus tests

A mixed team consisting of officials from the Economic Control Department (ECD) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation, Ministry of Justice, Police and Bureau of Public Health (BOG) has a grand ceremony on June 9, 2021 illegal coronavirus tests were seized in Suriname.

These tests were simply sold on unauthorized sites without permission from the Department of Health (VG) and also without any authorization from EZ.

It is common for individuals to test themselves and fail to report their results, which not only makes the situation more alarming, but unnecessarily jeopardizes public health. Strict action will be taken against those who engage in such practices. We will not tolerate the deterioration of our health.

It is worth noting that the (Covid) tests are for medical consumables and therefore a license is required to sell them. Anyone wishing to sell such tests is urged to irrevocably contact the Ministries of Health and Safety and Economic Affairs to obtain the necessary authorization.

The investigation into the confiscated Covid tests is still ongoing.
