It is good that this alliance exists. In recent years, the Party for Freedom and the BBB in particular have made no secret of the fact that previous governments were of no use, wanted to solve problems that barely existed, spent unnecessary money on agricultural transformation and did not stand up for ordinary people.
For this reason alone, it is good that this coalition exists. After all, you get a no and you get a yes, even in Brussels.
The Framework Agreement contains many plans and intentions. It promises to put entrepreneurs back at the center of policy and solve problems in their own way. Many points require a completely different attitude than Brussels. The BBB expects this to be possible through a different negotiating tactic.
One thing is certain. If it doesn't work, it will not be the fault of politicians like Geert Wilders and Caroline van der Plas. It will be the fault of Brussels, other politicians, judges or the media.
Farmers are relieved that the Rutte IV cabinet breathed plenty of D66
I wonder what happens next. Will the anger of farmers and citizens increase? Is the call for radical solutions higher than that? Or will the sense of reality sink in that it's really not that simple.
In any case, right-wing populist parties will benefit from this. They thrive on angry farmers and citizens. Whether they succeed or not, the outcome appears to be in their favor. We've been seeing this trend for some time in New Harvest's election poll. Also in the latest. PVV attracts farmers' votes for the first time (11 percent). Just over half of farmers vote for the BBB (53 percent).
It is good that the new coalition can work. After all, farmers are particularly relieved that the outgoing Rutte IV cabinet breathed a lot of D66. They are done with it for now.
