A 65-year-old man from Salzburg and a Salzburg woman of the same age have fallen victim to previously unknown scammers. The two victims independently made investments in an alleged financial company based in Great Britain between July and October 2023. Police announced this on Easter Sunday.

The two 65-year-olds were previously contacted via a social media platform and asked strangers to conduct transactions from their cryptocurrency wallets using remote maintenance software.

However, the promised dividends were never distributed. According to police, both victims transferred more than 80,000 euros each.
