Charles Leclerc after Verstappen criticism: ‘F1 is getting bigger in the US thanks to Netflix’

Michael McCann, October 23, 2021

Charles Leclerc clearly noted that the popularity of Formula 1 was growing in the United States. According to the Ferrari driver, this is thanks to the Netflix series Drive To Survive.

And on Thursday, Max Verstappen said he had boycotted the show, because the makers of the series could no longer broadcast “made-up” stories about him, says the Dutchman. According to Verstappen, the creators of the series absorb storylines rather than rely on facts. The Red Bull Racing driver in Austin said on Thursday that the show would not be based on reality.

Charles Leclerc talks about the Netflix series on Thursday afternoon. When asked his opinion about the prospect of a third F1 race in the US, Monegask replied: “I would like to have a third Grand Prix in the US.”

“Formula 1 has been gaining more and more popularity here in recent years thanks to the Netflix season,” says the Ferrari driver. “I can feel that and see it clearly.”

Lewis Hamilton said during the press conference that he would like to come to the United States. According to Hamilton, a third Grand Prix on American soil would be appropriate given the greatness of the United States. Hamilton also says he would welcome the South African Grand Prix.

Leclerc agrees. “I love this great country, it is great to be here and I will be happy if there is a third race. I also agree with Lewis that in general it would be good to have a race in Africa. It is great to race there.”
