But what speed enthusiasts wonder is whether they risk a speeding fine if they look the pole directly into the lens. TopGear has found out for you whether a flexible flash can flash in both directions, or whether it can only photograph the back of your car or motorcycle.

How many fines do flexible speed cameras issue?
The fact that there's suddenly a new speed camera somewhere will be a big part of the pole's success, but so will the fact that it flashes in both directions. A temporary pole has handed out more than 43,000 speeding tickets. We now have about fifty flexible flash units in the Netherlands. This number should rise to 125 by 2026.
