WhatsApp messages are often private in nature. A new feature helps keep it confidential. But not all users can adjust this feature.

Kassel – WhatsApp messaging has been used by many people for years. Billions of users around the world send messages to each other via the app. WhatsApp is constantly reinventing itself and regularly introducing new functionality. Or tries to improve existing ones.

New security feature in WhatsApp Web – protect messages from prying eyes with a screen lock

But what ends up in the chat is often not intended for the general public. WhatsApp also exchanges private messages intended only for the eyes of the sender and recipient. There is good news for all WhatsApp users who want to protect themselves from prying eyes on their chat messages. The messaging service is testing a new function aimed at enhancing the “message confidentiality” of messages.

As is known, the messenger is not only available as an application on a smartphone, but also as a web version. WhatsApp can also be used on laptop. For example, if you want to write a quick WhatsApp message in the office during a break, but don’t want to accidentally reveal private information to your co-workers, there will be a solution soon. The new screen lock is currently being tested in the beta version of WhatsApp, as well as on the portal WABetaInfo It is to be read.

Due to the password-protected screen lock, implemented with the update to WhatsApp Web 2.2333.11 beta, it is no longer possible to peek at other people’s screens. The preview in the form of notification notifications also disappears once the screen lock is activated. Unpleasant and embarrassing situations at work caused by sensitive WhatsApp messages may soon become a thing of the past.

Screen lock on WhatsApp Web – this is how you set it

For now, only people using the beta version of WhatsApp Web can test the new feature. To do this you have to select “Settings” in the menu. Select and click “Protect Data”. The “Screen Lock” sub-item can be found here. Anyone who clicks on this can select an individual password. Once you’ve completed this step, the screen lock can be activated on WhatsApp Web – and your desktop is protected from prying eyes.

Meanwhile, the “classic” version of WhatsApp will improve image quality in the future. This means that the sent images are no longer compressed. (x)
