Harold Tejada will also defend the colors of Astana Kazakhstan in 2024. The 26-year-old Colombian climber was out of contract, but has now extended his contract by one year.

Tejada will prepare for his fifth season in Kazakh service next year. In 2020, he made his professional debut for Team Astana, and Tejada has shown promising things in climbing in recent years. This year he finished tenth in the Tour of Switzerland, eighth in the Gran Piemonte and third in the Tour of Turkey. This year he was also allowed to participate in the Tour de France for the second time in his career.

“After four seasons, I have a feeling that I can also achieve results. I had a good second half of the season, especially with my first podium,” Tejada said in a press release about the last round of Turkey. “This is just the beginning for me. I hope to win competitions next year as well. I have to thank the team for the support. I’m still making progress. He seems confident that this first victory will not last long.

“Hopefully he can continue in the right direction.”
Team president Alexander Vinokourov also has confidence in the Colombian. “After a number of difficult years, Harold started to achieve his first serious results last season. He is now increasingly climbing into the top 10 rankings on mountain stages, rode strongly in the Tour of Switzerland and had a beautiful Tour in Turkey. We hope he can continue in the right direction “Not only through good results, but also through victories.”
