Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important. Computer programs that mimic human abilities such as logical thinking, learning, and planning. This presents great opportunities, but also risks. How entrepreneurs can use artificial intelligence was the topic at the Social Democratic Business Association's New Year's reception in Stächleining.
Computer programs independently write texts that do not appear to be human-authored. They imitate sounds and manipulate images – whether real or fake, true or false, is difficult to understand. “Especially when large amounts of data have to be processed, where a large number of documents have to be stored in an organized way – this is where AI is currently finding its way into banks,” said Gerhard Neul, Director of Burgenland Bank. Farmer Doris Kollar-Lackner can also imagine benefiting from artificial intelligence in her area, for example in technical equipment or in the field of seeds.
“2024 will not be easy”
However, state governor Hans-Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) expressed his fear that artificial intelligence could lead to the loss of important skills. SWV President Gerald Schwentenwein said the new year will not be easy, with or without AI. Unfortunately, the order status is not as good as expected. However, we look positively to the future. The main challenges entrepreneurs face are inflation and high wage agreements, Schwentenwein said.
