An ALDI customer revealed how she found a very surprising note from a prisoner inside a famous purchase.

Louise, who shares the Facebook page, said she spotted the handwritten message inside a box of Hegs pegs with hooks.

Made in Australia wedges were a whole sold item in a recent ALDI Special purchase sale.

“Did anyone else buy these gorgeous Australian-made wedges from ALDI last week and get a secret message inside the package?” Louise has written on the Aldi Mums group on Facebook.

A photo Louise posted shows the pen note inside the cardboard box.

After the inmate wrote down his name and ID number *, he then wrote: “Mobilong Prison, Murray Bridge. Write to me.”

The South Australian Department of Correctional Services confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au that Mobilong Prison is producing Hegs pegs at the facility.

ALDI shoppers were amazed to discover Louise.

“This guy will have thousands of pen friends by the end of the day!” One said.

Another added: “Suddenly, it receives 50,000 characters.”

Third, he said, “If only he knew how much he cared about this.”

Many were eager to know if Louise was planning to write to the inmate.

“That is the real question!” One said.
