Amazon customers have to give up a popular payment method. Anyone who does not take action in time will lose the points they have collected. New product on the way.

MUNICH – It's been over for a few days: Amazon's Visa card is history. The cooperation between Amazon and Landesbank Berlin AG ended on March 26. This means that many customers no longer have a popular payment service. Some series have also been no longer available on Amazon Prime since March. The most important information at a glance.

“All card accounts are already closed”: Amazon Payment is no longer available

Amazon's Visa card has brought many benefits to its users. In addition to Amazon Cash Back points, cardholders paid no fees on the card the first year, started with a €20 balance, and the whole thing was completely free for Amazon Prime members. For non-Prime customers, the card costs €19.99 from the second year onwards. However, it can be expensive, especially with foreign withdrawals and foreign exchange fees.

However, the payment service has been no longer available since the end of March. “All card accounts have already been closed,” Amazon informs in a message, meaning customers can no longer use their card at Amazon. The company is already working on a new product that will replace the Visa card. The company also reports: “Credit card banking is possible for up to 60 days after account closure.” Therefore, customers must download their card statements from their mailbox in a timely manner.

Bonus points from the Amazon Visa card expire – if the customer does not approve in time

Berliner Landesbank has informed all customers in advance. In order not to lose their customer account with the bank permanently, customers were able to agree to changed terms in order to extend the card contract with Landesbank Berlin and thus apply for the “Visa Card Extra”. However, use with Amazon is no longer possible anyway, and Amazon customers will also lose more benefits when the card expires.

Anyone who does not agree to the terms will automatically have their subsequent card cancelled. “The full amount of the outstanding invoice will be collected and your Amazon.de VISA card will no longer be able to be used from this day onwards,” the bank explains in a statement. In this case, the bonus points will also have expired since March 26th.
