New cinema movie Happy Family 2, a sequel to the animated film Happy Family from 2017, premieres in Germany, and theme park fans will get to know characters from Europa-Park and Phantasialand.

The Happy Family films are produced by MackMedia, a sister company of Europa-Park and attraction creator Mack Rides. The 4D cinema at Europa-Park screened a short film The Happy Family in 2016. Characters from the film also appear in Geisterschloss’s haunted house in Europa-Park.

In addition, three Happy Family productions bats have since 2019 taken control of Phantasialand’s inland Crazy Bats roller coaster – formerly the Temple of the Night Hawk.

The new Happy Family movie premiered last month in the United States, Mexico and Spain under the name Monster Family 2. Starting today, the movie will be shown in Germany. Russia, Denmark, Hungary, Sweden and Portugal will follow in the coming months. At the moment, the film will not be shown in the Netherlands.

The story revolves around a family whose members turn into creeps: a vampire, a werewolf, a mummy and the Frankenstein monster. In the second part, they are confronted by the monster hunter Mila Star. The direction is once again in the hands of Holger Tapp, who has also directed several other 4D films for Europa-Park.
