Android KitKat was launched in October 2013. Now that it’s gone, Google has announced that it will stop supporting the software. This was reported by “Chromeunboxed” on their website.
Although the operating system now only runs on mobile for about one percent of Android users, KitKat has survived for a surprisingly long time. There are now ten newer versions and Android 14 at the start. However, for KitKat, it will expire in the next few days.

KitKat has brought some important updates. It introduced a new runtime environment called ART (Android Runtime), which replaced Dalvik to improve application performance, was lighter and could run on devices with less than 512MB of RAM. Most important, of course, was the introduction of the “OK, Google” voice command, which effectively defined how we interact with smart devices today.
On the other hand, the following operating systems brought many innovations that were not yet standard with KitKat, such as binary licensing.
From 2009 to 2019, Android called its operating systems candy. In addition to KitKat, there was Oreo, Nougat, Marshmallow, and Gingerbread. Internal appointments have always relied on popular desserts from Android 1.1 (Petit Four) to today (Upside Down Cake). Android 15, which is expected to be released next year, already has the internal name “Vanilla Ice Cream”.
