After some questions about his future, Zdeno Chara has made it clear that he intends to return to Boston Bruins for the 2020-21 season.

After Bruins is eliminated by Tampa Bay Lightning, Sharr is not committed to his future, but has said he will remain open-minded. After spending some time thinking, Thursday Shara was steadfast in wanting to return for another season.

“I wouldn’t say I’m hesitant, I used to say my mind is open,” Chara told reporters during a phone call on Zoom. “Obviously, when I asked about my future just a few minutes after losing double extra time and the way we fought and how we played that match, I was still very sad about the outcome. My feelings were kind of, maybe, a bad expression at the time.

“But I think I addressed this question before we left Toronto because I feel physically strong and I am optimistic that I can still play this game and contribute to the team. I want to stay in Boston, and I want to become a Boston Bruin, and I want to continue leading by example and sharing my experiences and my skills in playing with The young players and my teammates. So that hasn’t changed. I’m committed, so we’ll see what happens next. “

The 43-year-old appeared in 68 games last season with 14 points while averaging 21:01 from ice time. Chara signed a $ 2 million one-year deal for the 2019-20 season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

Chara hopes to hold a meeting with the Bruins management so they can discuss a new contract.
