All Nippon Airways will deploy its Green Pokémon Jet to Seattle, Honolulu, Vancouver and other international destinations beginning September 18.
ANA Expands Pokémon-Themed Fleet With International Dreamliner
TOKYO — All Nippon Airways is preparing to introduce a new Pokémon-themed Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on international routes, bringing the specially painted aircraft to airports in the United States, Canada, Asia and the Pacific.
The Green Pokémon Jet, registered as JA923A, is scheduled to begin international service on September 18, 2026. The aircraft is part of a broader campaign commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise and ANA’s 40th anniversary of international flight operations.
According to the airline’s published schedule, the widebody aircraft will connect Tokyo with several major international destinations. Planned North American routes include Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, as well as Vancouver International Airport in Canada.
The Green Pokémon Jet is expected to remain in the international rotation through March 27, 2027. ANA cautioned that aircraft assignments remain subject to operational requirements, flight conditions and scheduling changes.
Green Pokémon Jet Features Grass-Type Characters
The exterior design of the Boeing 787-9 places Pikachu alongside several Grass-type Pokémon that have appeared as starter partners throughout the video game series.
Bulbasaur, Chikorita and Other Pokémon Join the Livery
Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko and Grookey are among the characters featured in the distinctive green design. The selection represents different generations of the franchise while giving the aircraft a consistent Grass-type theme.
ANA has extended the branding beyond the fuselage. Passengers flying aboard the aircraft will encounter Pokémon-themed details throughout the cabin, including specially designed headrest covers, commemorative merchandise and custom cocktail napkins on international services.
The airline also plans to offer themed cups and other limited-edition items connected to the anniversary partnership. These features are intended to make the aircraft a broader passenger experience rather than simply a special exterior livery.
Three Pokémon Aircraft Planned for 2026
The Green Pokémon Jet is one of three themed aircraft included in ANA’s 2026 program.
The carrier has already introduced the Red Pokémon Jet, a Boeing 787-8 registered as JA819A. A Blue Pokémon Jet using a Boeing 737-800 is scheduled to enter domestic service later in the year.
Together, the three aircraft will give ANA a mix of international and domestic Pokémon-themed operations. The campaign also expands the airline’s longstanding relationship with the franchise, which began when ANA introduced its first Pokémon Jet in 1998.
US and Canadian Routes Included in Schedule
The Green Pokémon Jet will operate from both Tokyo Haneda Airport and Narita International Airport, providing additional opportunities for North American travelers and aviation enthusiasts to see the aircraft.
ANA’s current plans include Seattle and Honolulu among its Haneda services, while Vancouver is also listed as a destination for the themed Dreamliner. Other international airports across Asia and the Pacific are expected to receive the aircraft during the operating period.
The use of a Boeing 787-9 gives ANA flexibility to deploy the jet across its medium- and long-haul network. However, passengers booking a particular flight are not guaranteed to travel aboard the themed aircraft because equipment substitutions can occur.
Pokémon GO Collaboration Begins at Japanese Airports
The aircraft’s international debut will coincide with a Pokémon GO promotion at selected airports in Japan.
Beginning September 18, participating locations will feature special PokéStops and Gyms. Players will also be able to access themed raids and Timed Research activities linked to the Green Pokémon Jet.
The digital promotion adds another component to ANA’s anniversary campaign, connecting the aircraft’s physical appearance with the mobile game experience.
For ANA, the program combines brand recognition, passenger engagement and international marketing during an important anniversary year. For travelers and aircraft spotters, JA923A is likely to become one of the airline’s most recognizable Dreamliners as its Grass-type design begins appearing at major airports across North America, Asia and the Pacific.
